Did you purposely put a butterfree, charzard, scyther, and gyarados in the fic because they were the mascots for the main site, or was that just a coincidence? ( sorry i cant really word questions that well…)
I put Charizard and Butterfree into the fic because they were my favorite Pokémon, Gyarados and Lapras because they were my favorite Water-types, Jolteon and Raichu because they were my favorite Electric-types, Sandslash and Tyranitar because they were my favorite Pokémon that used Ground attacks, and so on (Mark and May's teams were meticulously planned before I really started the fic). Charizard and Butterfree were also the mascots of the site because they were my favorite Pokémon. Scyther became one of my favorite Pokémon after I wrote him into the fic, and Scyther was added in as a site mascot (or at least part of the splash history) after that (again, because it was one of my favorite Pokémon). And Magikarp was put there because I thought the "Splash" joke was too good to resist and I already had an excuse to include Magikarp in the site's collection of potential inhabitants.

How long had you been planning for Floatzel's capture before it happened?
Uh, a couple of hours. I was writing chapter 43, had Mark and May out at sea, her needing a new Water-type, and realized she would do something about it. "Oh, hey, maybe Floatzel?"

Lapras: Better. I'm glad to be free.

Floatzel: Battles, battles and more battles! Battles are fun, yes?

Mark: Well, I don't like it, per se… but it feels worth it because I feel like I'm helping to save something. At first I was kind of just doing what Chaletwo told me, but after Suicune, well, I realized there's a better reason to be doing it.

Chaletwo: Well, yes, and his memories erased and the event of his death erased, but I'd have done everything in my power to make him agree to it first.

Floatzel: Battles have always been fun and will always be fun.

By the way, note that this thread applies to the ILCOE - in the ILCOE there is no actual "Effect". Mark can't really answer that question.

Floatzel: I left them because they were not good enough. Some liked to fight. Some did not like to fight. But I was the best of all of them.

Floatzel: No. I beat them all.

(I like how this is my 666th post.)

Floatzel to elyvorg: The battle is over by the time I win or lose, yes? I would not lose until I have had my fun.

Floatzel to SandStormBuisle: I fought a swarm of Carvanha. They were many and I still won. They bit off one of my tails, but when I evolved it grew back. I laughed when they fled.

Floatzel: I could have gotten out on my own. He patronized me. I won't forget, never.

Scyther: Something about how bugs exist only to be crushed. The content is not what matters.

That would depend on the situation; generally I'd only kill off a character when it makes sense for that character to die.

If I just specifically wanted to kill off one of each of their Pokémon and would engineer the situation once I'd chosen the Pokémon, I'd probably pick Sandslash from Mark's team because he is nice and loyal and his loss would be tragic without being quite as downright cruel as if it were Jolteon, plus that he is the least interesting to write and so as the author I'd miss his presence the least. May would probably lose Spirit because I'm mean like that and it's the one that would affect her the most by far, though Floatzel would also be a possibility in that regard if I didn't want to give Spirit the axe, and Flygon would be a possibility if I wanted to go for the nice-and-loyal-and-didn't-deserve-it death. For Alan it would be Charlie, because he would be so utterly crushed and horrified and it would be adorable and fun to write.

Oh, stop with the dragon questions and attempts to find out who Alan's mom is already. Don't waste my time making me type up the same things I've already typed up fifteen billion times or sit here coming up with excuses to not tell you about Alan's mom. It's very tiring.

Floatzel: Battling is fun. Pain itself, not.

Ash: I'm still in contact with some of them. Others I haven't met in ages - would be fun to see them again.

Floatzel: I know how to be myself. If I were another Pokémon, I would have to learn to be them, but then that would be myself. It doesn't matter which one it is, hm?

Chaletwo: Not the same way as if it were happening to myself, but I'm aware of it.

Molzapart: Well, I am, give or take Chaletwo. There's no reason that shouldn't be recognized.

Old lady: What? You'll have to speak up, dear. My hearing isn't what it used to be.
