Chapter: Chapter 56: The Ouen Safari
Okay, this really isn't on any chapter but the fic in general, how does evolving into Scizor make Scyther slower and unable to fly. Yes, it stands to reason that metal makes one heavier but it wouldn't make a Scizor that much heavier and the increased aerodynamics and larger wings offset this the only problem I find with Scizor morphology is the fact that they shouldn't be able to walk. Am I the only one has noticed how impossible those legs are? Curving downward like that? However the most disturbing fact is that Scizor lacks feet.Reply: Scizor's base Speed is forty points lower than Scyther's, hence slower, and its Pokédex entries explicitly say that its wings are not used for flying, just regulating temperature. I didn't just make that up.

Reply: Lavender er ljósfjólublátt.
Molzapart breytti minningum allra þannig að fólk myndi ekki tengja Mark við Chaletwo og uppgötva að hann átti að vera dáinn. Hins vegar eru minningarnar ekki alveg farnar, bara sokknar dýpra þannig að fólk tengi þetta ekki saman af sjálfsdáðum. Í Crater Town var til dæmis einhver með gamalt dagblað með mynd og grein um dauða hans, sem olli því að allir sem sáu það mundu hver Mark var. Hins vegar sá þessi kona ekkert sem minnti hana á af hverju Mark var skráður látinn í gagnagrunninum, þannig að ekkert óheppilegt gerðist í þetta skipti.

Interesting chapter … May seems to be trying to prove something. A stantler and her .. yes, I was thinking "strange…" just like Mark.
I like how you put different personalities for the pokemon, it makes it a lot more interesting, and realistic as well - of course they won't all get along … and you make sure their peronalities will help drive the plot in that way you want, excellent!
Is there any way to put a small recap before the chapter though? Not reading for a while makes me forget some important plot elements.Reply: She does seem to be trying to prove something, doesn't she? I think Alan may have got to her a bit.
This fic's plot is such a huge, convoluted pretzel that proper recaps might be kind of huge and overbearing to put before every chapter. It might be plausible to just write a special continuously updated general-purpose plot recap page to let people refresh their memories when necessary, though. I'll see what I can do about that.

Gosh I think I love Stantler already n__n She sounds so reasonable and… normal, it amuses me. I know that Sandslash and Jolteon are pretty much sane as well, but they tend to take a back seat, not to mention they don't happen to be present during this clash of ~personalities~. I'm hoping she gets more screentime.

Flottur kafli, ekki síst klakinn sem aldrei bráðnar, sem dregur í sig hita úr umhverfinu og notar til að framleiða ljós. Ég vissi ekki að sumir pokemonar töluðu mannamál. Og hvað með drekana sem þau eru að fanga, tala þeir ekki pokemonmál sem þau skilja og hinir pokemonarnir skilja? Svo finnst mér svolítið skrítið með frosna stöðuvatnið. Þau standa á því í dalnum, en drekinn virðist vera á bakkanum, því það koma hnullungar undan fótum hans í einu atriðinu. Gyarados brýtur vök í ísinn, en brotnar ekki út frá vökinni? Eru þau hin óhult á ísnum?Reply: Það eru bara Spirit og Gyarados sem tala mannamál, það er hluti af þeirra sérstöðu af því að þau voru útvalin. Drekarnir sem þau eru að fanga hafa hins vegar aldrei haft samskipti af því þeir hafa verið lokaðir inni allt sitt líf og því tala þeir ekkert skiljanlegt mál.
Krakkarnir eru við stöðuvatnið en ekki á því ("they were on the bank of a frozen lake…"), Polaryu líka. Það er bara Gyarados sem er á vatninu, og Jolteon sem hendist út í vökina á eftir.

Áhugaverður kafli með náttúrulýsingum og persónusamskiptum. En þegar Tentacruel ber otrinum í stein (rock), þá finnst mér það koma undarlega inn í söguna. Ef það er sker einmitt þarna í miðjum sjónum, þá gætirðu minnst á það nokkrum línum ofar. Að þau hafi komið auga á Tentacruel marandi í sjónum nálægt skeri. Þá birtist ekki skerið jafn furðulega í textanum. Annars bara gaman að lesa söguna þína.Reply: Já, það er áreiðanlega betra að minnast á það fyrr. Raunar eru þau úti á miðju hafi svo það er undarlegt að það sé sker þarna yfirleitt.

Hvað er átt við?Reply: Allt samtalið í 25. kafla þar sem Molzapart og Chaletwo útskýrðu verkefnið o.s.frv. gerðist í tómarúmi þar sem var ekkert ljós. Mark "sá" þá í gegnum tilbúna "minningu" sem Molzapart bjó til í huga hans á meðan. Hér er hann að tala um að hann hefur nánast aldrei raunverulega séð Molzapart og Chaletwo, sem hann er að vinna með.

First of all, I doubt someone would stop reading something so crucial due to the /time/. Isnt he supposed to be super interested in legendaries?
And just a little thing I noticed only once, and u might've just made a little mistake for all I know, but Pokemon doesnt need to be capitalized like Animals and Humans dont need to be.Reply: I wrote that chapter in 2004. I'm well aware that most everything in it is dumb and that's why there's another revision there in which none of this happens. Please ignore it.
Whether to capitalize "Pokémon" and the names of Pokémon species is a hotly debated issue in the fanfiction community, but I do because that's the "official" way to do it (i.e. what you'll see on the official website, in official guides, on the game boxes and so on) and largely because of this, a lot of people, including me, are more used to seeing them capitalized and find the noncapitalized version jarring. This is a consistent and conscious choice.

Okay, first of all, wow. I've been doing an archive binge over the past couple of days, and let me start by saying this is one of the best stories I've ever read. A few questions:
-Is Letaligon's patricide subplot going anywhere soon?
-Are there any more fake legendaries planned beyond the ones revealed so far?
-How are you planning to integrate the 5th gen?
- Can I use some aspects of your world for my own fic? I don't mean Ouen or the War or anything, I'm referring to stuff like the Pokemon vs human language and the implementation of the 4-move limit.
Once again, great fic, and I'm sorry if it seems like I'm being overly demanding - remember, I read the whole fic over about 2 weeks. Can't wait for chapter 56!Reply: Hi, and thanks. :3
- Letaligon's subplot is going somewhere soon, yes; Mark and May are heading to the Ouen Safari and after that to release Letaligon in Ruxido.
- No, there will be no more fake legendaries beyond the ones revealed so far, except that I'm not going to rule out the possibility that the Destroyer is one. (This is not an indication that it actually is; I just like being mysterious.)
- Fifth-generation will get integrated the same way the fourth was: once the games are released in English, fifth-generation Pokémon or moves may appear in any subsequent chapter as if they'd always been there but just happened never to come up.
- Sure. If you follow my ideas very closely I'd appreciate if you included a note crediting where it came from.
