Ég þarf verulegrar upprifjunar við. Hver er aftur Michael og Nightmare? Öll þessi saga sem er sögð í stuttu máli í lok kaflans. Ég þarf aðeins nákvæmari upprifjun.
Svo koma spurningar: Eru bara 4 move á hvern pokemon? Hvað á dragondance að gera?
Svo máttu útskýra: …theyve regressed to around the levels of most of the trainers
og annað:
…compounded weaknesses…each rock type brought out…take down exactly…weak to it…Mark might have other pokemon…also weak to Rock.
Reply: Nightmare er sú sem Scyther var ástfanginn af þegar hann fór frá sverminum sínum. Þjálfari (Michael) náði henni og Scyther réðst á hann.
Í 23. kafla var "Pokémon Frenzy Tournament" þar sem Scyther barðist við Scizor sem hann komst síðan að að var hún. Í 29. kafla rakst Scyther á Michael þegar hann var einn, réðst á hann aftur og reyndi að drepa hann, en Mark stöðvaði hann og hringdi á sjúkraliða sem björguðu Michael.
Í meistarakeppninni eru bara leyfð fjögur move fyrir hvern pokémon. Mikið af pælingum Marks um bardagana hingað til hefur snúist um þetta. Dragon Dance eykur snerpu og styrk viðkomandi pokémons.
Í heimi sögunnar er gert ráð fyrir að ef pokémon berst aðeins við veikari pokémona í langan tíma verður hann á endanum veikari til að spara orku, þannig að "levelið" lækkar. Þetta skiptir engu máli þannig séð, er bara útskýring á af hverju Michael, sem hefur verið þjálfari í nokkur ár, er enn að berjast í meistarakeppninni fyrir nýliða.
Nú er Mark kominn upp úr forkeppninni og í aðalkeppnina, þar sem reglurnar eru aðeins öðruvísi. Í fyrsta lagi nota þjálfararnir núna sex pokémona í hverjum bardaga en ekki þrjá, og í öðru lagi má ekki skipta pokémonum út hvenær sem er, heldur teljast þeir sigraðir ef þeir eru kallaðir til baka. Mark er þarna að átta sig á að þetta þýðir að þó að margir af hans pokémonum séu veikir fyrir Rock-árásum hefur það ekki alltof mikla þýðingu, þar sem flestir eiga bara einn eða í mesta lagi tvo pokémona af hverju 'type'i. Þá sendir andstæðingurinn til dæmis út einhvern Rock-pokémon á móti Charizard og rotar hann, en þá getur Mark sent út Sandslash eða Letaligon, sem munu líklega sigra Rock-pokémoninn, og andstæðingurinn getur ekki bara skipt honum út aftur til að geyma hann. Þess vegna skiptir minna máli núna hversu margir pokémonar eru veikir fyrir hverju og meira að hver pokémon hafi einhverja kosti til að mæta veikleikum sínum (sem þeir munu þurfa að gera af því að þeir geta ekki skipt út lengur).

Skemmtilegur kafli þrátt fyrir bardagann. Bæði var bardaginn lifandi, og umhverfið skemmtilegt með pöllum í lausu lofti. Svo finnst mér mjög skemmtilegt hvernig þú lýsir hugsunum Marks, bæði þegar hann er að skipuleggja bardagann, og eins í bardaganum sjálfum. Hann hefur ekkert allt of mikið sjálfstraust, og er mjög gagnrýninn á sjálfan sig. En hann sigrast samt á hverri þraut.
Jæja, spurningar: wax poetic…no true trainer wants their pok… to evolve?
Af hverju á Megan marga pokemona, var ekki takmarkað við sex stk sem mátti hafa í bardaga?

Og að lokum, af hverju thanks to Scyther?Reply: "to wax poetic" er orðatiltæki. Hér var vísað í það að í pokémon-teiknimyndaþáttunum þróast fæstir pokémonar aðalpersónunnar og nokkrir kjósa sérstaklega að þróast ekki þó þeim sé boðið það, og í sögunni vilja sumir þjálfarar líkja eftir þessu og gera í því að vilja ekki láta pokémonana sína þróast. May finnst þetta mjög asnalegt.
Það má eiga eins marga pokémona og þú vilt, en þú getur bara haft sex með þér í einu, svo að það eru aldrei fleiri en sex í hverjum bardaga fyrir sig. Mark vissi ekki fyrirfram hvaða þrjá Megan myndi velja fyrir bardagann.
Það var Lunatone sem "didn't have a native Ground type to boost its potency"; Earth Power er sem sagt Ground-árás en Lunatone er ekki Ground pokémon. Þegar pokémonar nota árásir af sama "type" og þeir sjálfir eru þær sterkari en annars. Dragonite og Scyther eru báðir veikir fyrir Rock árásum, og Lunatone er Rock pokémon, svo að Lunatone á auðveldara með að meiða þá heldur en Letal. Mark er þarna að átta sig á því að þó að Letal sé veik fyrir Earth Power er hann í rauninni að fara úr öskunni í eldinn með því að skipta henni út.
"Thanks to Scyther" vísar í það að Scyther var ennþá standandi þegar Mark skipti honum út. Eins og Aaron White vann bardagann í síðasta kafla með því að skipta út mjög særðum pokémon og ná síðan fram "jafntefli" með þeim síðasta telst Mark hafa unnið þennan bardaga 2-1 vegna þess að Scyther rotaðist ekki, þó hann hafi verið mikið meiddur.

My point simply was, it is not impossible for Tyranitar to haunt the main characters again in the future. I guess I should have elaborated. I've been reading into too much symbolism lately.
What really made me think of Sneasel as Floatzel was the comment about how Sneasel seemed to have no concern for anything except power, as demonstrated when she regarded Letaligon leaving in an arguably close-minded way. Plus, Ninetales attacked her as well. Plus, Floatzel wanted to fight strong foes, implying that she is very combat-oriented.

Og þegar Mark og Letal tala saman, þá segir eitthvað um að eitthvað sé rangt við föður Letal, rifjaðu upp fyrir mig.
Svo er ég svolítið hissa að Ditto kunni svona mikið nýþróaður, er ekki Charizard búin að fá meiri æfingu í að vera á þessu þróunarstigi?
Að lokum, hafði segulmagnið sem Mark varð fyrir út af nærveru Mewtwo2, einhver áhrif á bardagann? Tapaði Mark bardaganum þess vegna?
Reply: TM er hlutur sem kennir pokémoni á augabragði nýja árás eða bragð fyrir bardaga. Mark hefur notað TM áður (einnig HM, sem virka eins en kenna eitthvað sem er gagnlegt utan bardaga, t.d. að synda upp fossa).
Faðir Letal er "shiny", sem þýðir að hann er öðruvísi á litinn en aðrir Letaligonar. Það eru til "shiny" útgáfur af öllum pokémonum, en hjá Letaligon er þessi litarháttur algengari en í öðrum pokémonum og valdakerfi þeirra byggist á því að öll afkvæmi "shiny" einstaklings eru líka "shiny": hver hjörð hefur einn "shiny" leiðtoga (faðir Letal í tilfelli hjarðar hennar) og afkvæmi leiðtogans berjast annaðhvort við hann um yfirráðin þegar þau eru fullvaxin eða fara og taka völdin í annarri hjörð.
Letal er hins vegar ekki "shiny" þó faðir hennar og systkini séu það. Hann afneitaði henni þess vegna, enda lítur það grunsamlega út í meira lagi. Þegar Mark fangaði hana í 22. kafla vildi móðir hennar reyna að fá hana til baka en faðir hennar neitaði að hjálpa og sagði að hún gæti sjálfri sér um kennt, og hjörðin fylgdi á eftir. Þegar Mark spurði hana sjálfa vildi hún frekar koma með honum, og seinna kom í ljós að hún er að reyna að þróast og verða nógu öflug til að snúa heim, drepa föður sinn og horfa síðan á systkini sín slátra hvert öðru til að taka við af honum, í blöndu af einföldum hefndarþorsta og ósk um að sanna að hún þurfi ekki að vera shiny til að vera sterkari en hann.
Ditto var ekki að þróast. Ditto er sem sagt sérstakur pokémon sem getur breytt sér í nákvæma eftirmynd annars pokémons sem hann sér. Ef Mark hefði ennþá verið með Jolteon úti hefði Ditto breytt sér í Jolteon o.s.frv. Þetta er síðan mjög vel þjálfaður Ditto sem kann fleiri brögð en Charizard, sem gaf honum yfirhöndina.
Ég myndi ekki kalla þetta segulmagn; kraftar Mewtwo^2 eru hugarorkukraftar (psychic) og þegar hann notar þá kæruleysislega hefur það tilfinningamagnandi áhrif á fólk í kringum hann. Mark tapaði ekki út af því, en það var ástæðan fyrir því að honum leið mjög undarlega rétt eftirá.

The last sentence of this chapter seems to foreshadow that Letaligon would not be released, or at the very least, would come back at some point. And if she's coming back, then I would assume that Tyranitar would also make some sort of comeback.
I'm curious as to how you would specialize Sneasel's personality, because she seems very similar to Floatzel as of now.
And in general, this is really random, but I thought the name of the fic was "The Quest of Legends" until today.Reply: It's rather strange jumping from "Letaligon seems to be having some second thoughts about leaving" to "Tyranitar, who was left behind out of necessity on an island they have no reason to visit again, will return." The fact the main characters are each losing a pseudo-legendary around the same point in the story is coincidental; I'm not here trying to make everything symmetric for Mark and May.
Sneasel and Floatzel are similarly enthusiastic about battling, and I imagine they're going to get along swimmingly, but Sneasel is a considerably more serious character. Floatzel enjoys fighting and growing stronger and is very much in this for the sheer crazy joy of it. Sneasel is just very focused and ambitious and takes the whole thing quite seriously. In this manner, actually, Sneasel is more like Letaligon than Floatzel; I kind of worried that as a "replacement" people would find her too similar. (But Letaligon is also a lot younger and more insecure, and her final objective was revenge on her father to be achieved through strength, whereas Sneasel cares about strength in itself.)

Svo máttu rifja upp fyrir mig: Quilava reyndi að þróast en var of þreytt. Í þessum kafla kemur fram að hún vilji ekki þróast. Er það af því hún getur það ekki, eða bannaði einhver henni það, eða ákvað hún það sjálf?
Og hver er aftur prof. Elm?Reply: Í fréttunum var verið að segja að Taylor verði leyft að taka þátt en megi bara nota fjóra pokémona, en venjulega má nota sex. Daginn áður, þegar Taylor gaf May Quilava aftur, útskýrði hann það þannig að hann vildi losna við Quilava svo hann geti beðið bróður sinn um einn pokémon í viðbót til að hafa sex. Þetta þýðir væntanlega að þá hafi ekki verið búið að setja regluna sem takmarkar hann við fjóra, þar sem þá þarf hann ekki sex pokémona. May er að giska á það að þegar Taylor talaði við hann kvöldið áður hafi Rick neitað að gefa honum pokémon og í staðinn látið breyta reglunum, þ.e. að hann hafi viljað jafna keppnina að einhverju leyti.
Það var Letal sem reyndi að þróast en var of þreytt. Quilava hefur ekki reynt að þróast; hana bara langar ekki til þess. Professor Elm er vísindamaður í pokémonleikjunum sem gaf May Quilava þegar hún byrjaði sem þjálfari.

It took a bit to get into the right state of mind, but once you're there the sheer amusement value of trying to write as badly as possible just keeps you glued to the keyboard.

Dude, I think all of the Pokemon have issues now except for Jolteon, and Stantler.Reply: Sandslash doesn't have issues either. And Dragonite is also pretty issue-free, really. As are some of May's Pokémon. They're just not as prominent as the ones that do. :P

How come this safari is in varied terrain and most game safaris are in marshes? This one seems more like pal park.Reply: This is quite similar to the Johto Safari Zone in HG/SS, minus the freaky rearrange-the-zones thing. Only the D/P/Pt Safari Zone is specifically in a marsh to my knowledge.

Who knows?Reply: Problem with your theory: Lugia, as far as everyone currently understands, has already been captured and therefore should not be able to drain power from anybody anymore.

Do I see our little May getting a tad more sentimental and less battle-oriented by catching that Stantler, a *gasp* NORMAL POKEMON!!
Another thing that I noticed in this chapter: How does Mark hide Chaletwo? I mean, in this Safari you don't give in your Pokemon, but for example at the League he gave in his Pokemon for testing, and surely they have a detector to make sure ALL Pokemon have been given in. If this is indeed the case, surely it should have detected Chaletwo's Pokeball? Perhaps something you might consider addressing in the IALCOTN if there isn't an obvious reason I'm missing. :)Reply: Chaletwo isn't technically in a ball, per se, except when Mark specifically takes him out of storage so that he can come out; usually he's just in the PC storage, but his anchor to Mark's brain lets him stick around speaking to them telepathically and all that. That said, of course, that just opens the question of why they aren't examining all the Pokémon in his box, discovering he has a bunch of legendaries and freaking out. I've been thinking there is some sort of a privacy clause so that any Pokémon you don't specifically enter in the League aren't examined, but unfortunately I wasn't thinking to have them made to pick which Pokémon were to be entered out of the PC when I wrote chapter 45, rather than just handing in their Pokéballs.
