Mark could have won easily, if he had switched Jolteon out before the ice beam hit him, Glalie would be forced out by Charizard, making Ditto come. As Charizard made Swords Dance twice, he was likely to win against Ditto, if he didn't, it would had been because of the suicide tactic. Then after, Jolteon could finish Galie with a pair of Thunderbolts, or Thunderbolt the water instead, so the ice attacks that implied freezing water would heal Jolteon (assuming he has the Volt Absorb hability).
I'm not trying to say Mark is a bad trainer or something, I just enjoy thinking of strategies that lead to winning. (I'm like May XD)

Reply: That's basically what May tells him in chapter 48, so yes, you do seem to think like her. :P

Hvað er TM?
Og þegar Mark og Letal tala saman, þá segir eitthvað um að eitthvað sé rangt við föður Letal, rifjaðu upp fyrir mig.
Svo er ég svolítið hissa að Ditto kunni svona mikið nýþróaður, er ekki Charizard búin að fá meiri æfingu í að vera á þessu þróunarstigi?
Að lokum, hafði segulmagnið sem Mark varð fyrir út af nærveru Mewtwo2, einhver áhrif á bardagann? Tapaði Mark bardaganum þess vegna?

Reply: TM er hlutur sem kennir pokémoni á augabragði nýja árás eða bragð fyrir bardaga. Mark hefur notað TM áður (einnig HM, sem virka eins en kenna eitthvað sem er gagnlegt utan bardaga, t.d. að synda upp fossa).

Faðir Letal er "shiny", sem þýðir að hann er öðruvísi á litinn en aðrir Letaligonar. Það eru til "shiny" útgáfur af öllum pokémonum, en hjá Letaligon er þessi litarháttur algengari en í öðrum pokémonum og valdakerfi þeirra byggist á því að öll afkvæmi "shiny" einstaklings eru líka "shiny": hver hjörð hefur einn "shiny" leiðtoga (faðir Letal í tilfelli hjarðar hennar) og afkvæmi leiðtogans berjast annaðhvort við hann um yfirráðin þegar þau eru fullvaxin eða fara og taka völdin í annarri hjörð.

Letal er hins vegar ekki "shiny" þó faðir hennar og systkini séu það. Hann afneitaði henni þess vegna, enda lítur það grunsamlega út í meira lagi. Þegar Mark fangaði hana í 22. kafla vildi móðir hennar reyna að fá hana til baka en faðir hennar neitaði að hjálpa og sagði að hún gæti sjálfri sér um kennt, og hjörðin fylgdi á eftir. Þegar Mark spurði hana sjálfa vildi hún frekar koma með honum, og seinna kom í ljós að hún er að reyna að þróast og verða nógu öflug til að snúa heim, drepa föður sinn og horfa síðan á systkini sín slátra hvert öðru til að taka við af honum, í blöndu af einföldum hefndarþorsta og ósk um að sanna að hún þurfi ekki að vera shiny til að vera sterkari en hann.

Ditto var ekki að þróast. Ditto er sem sagt sérstakur pokémon sem getur breytt sér í nákvæma eftirmynd annars pokémons sem hann sér. Ef Mark hefði ennþá verið með Jolteon úti hefði Ditto breytt sér í Jolteon o.s.frv. Þetta er síðan mjög vel þjálfaður Ditto sem kann fleiri brögð en Charizard, sem gaf honum yfirhöndina.

Ég myndi ekki kalla þetta segulmagn; kraftar Mewtwo^2 eru hugarorkukraftar (psychic) og þegar hann notar þá kæruleysislega hefur það tilfinningamagnandi áhrif á fólk í kringum hann. Mark tapaði ekki út af því, en það var ástæðan fyrir því að honum leið mjög undarlega rétt eftirá.

Too bad Mark lost, but having main characters that always win is one of my pet peeves. :P
By the way, was Aaron the kid at the festival who asked for the Ditto? Mark thought he looked familiar, and he said that Ditto had been his starter Pokemon.

Reply: Yes, Aaron was the guy at the Festival who got the Ditto. It's a bit of an easter egg for observant readers.

Great chapter :D But, a few times earlier in the fic, didn't Jolteon use Thunder Wave on a Pokémon with Volt Absorb to some effect?

NO!!! Mark lost!? *cries* They must have cheated…

Reply: …uh? Mark losing is really nothing new. o_O He is not out of the League yet, if that's what you're thinking, since this is the preliminaries, but yes, he lost, and I am puzzled by the suggestion that an opponent would need to "cheat" to beat him when he's been losing all the time since the beginning of the story. Just because he's the main character doesn't mean he can't lose at the League just as anywhere else.

WOW, that has to be my new favorite battle. Superbly thought out, and I completley forget about Glalie at the end x.x I think I found a small mistake though. "Weakened and paralyzed and barely conscious Glalie had won Aaron White the battle."
Shouldn't there be a comma after conscious?
