Chapter 27: Past, Present and Future (commentary)

This week's commentary features Pokémon backstories, some edginess that was actually not my fault, some explanation of the other fanfic whose universe I hastily decided to merge with TQftL's in 2003 (resulting in the forest of Ruxido), gratuitous anime references, a bit with Alan's issues that got lost in the ILCOE, some me bungling Scyther's backstory, thirteen-year-old me's confident theories on psychology, and some angsty Scyther love poetry by thirteen-year-old me that I am physically unable to look at. Did you know that in 2003, I earnestly described the equivalent of this chapter as "like a tunnel: deep, dark, and long"? Well, now you know.

I always assumed Itsruban was in another unnamed region somewhere. Honestly not sure why I thought that, since it was before your map existed, but it was cool reading about all that history with your other story.

Definitely some interesting commentary here, even if the chapter itself wasn't… too important in the grand scheme of things.

Mist states Itsruban is just nearby, though! And in The Second Clone it's definitely close to Ruxido.

My issue was more when this happened. But on reflection, I guess what I was going for was that while Mark was having his gym battle they were talking as they waited for him, and that's why we didn't see how they hit it off. I suppose that's fair, although I could've made it clearer.

And you are correct. Must have totally missed that way back when (along with other things).

Of course that begs the question of why this huge city is never mentioned again. But I guess it comes down to 'merger was done awkwardly'.
