06/19/2008: Forums wiped

So. The database crashed for good. All the data was lost, including the forums and comments; you will have to re-register. On the plus side, most of the Quest Blog is still here, thanks to the fact I only started using the database for it fairly recently and I could just re-run the script that I originally used to import it into the database, and naturally all the files are fine.

In case you ask: the Cave of Dragonflies forums are going to take quite a bit more work to get back up, as I will need a fresh installation of vBulletin and at the moment my license has expired so I can't actually download it.

Happy sixth birthday to The Quest for the Legends. I'll try to finish chapter 42 once I've gotten the guestbook on the main site working again.

(Also, if you missed it, there is new fan art up.)

Well, I'm glad you finally figured out your MySQL problem, even if it resulted in a database wipe. It's just stuff that happens sometimes, even if it can suck.

Gah…ok, that part with the vbulletin license sounds a bit complicated. Good luck getting that, seeing as it sounds like it won't be easy.

@_@ Devastating, simply devastating. Everything from these forums to the main site's forums were wiped clean, with nothing to fall back on except for the Quest Blog.

>_> Well, not all is lost, and it could have been worse. If the ENTIRE site crashed and was wiped, <anti-jinx> but somehow had a back up and was up and running again</anti-jinx>, that would be simply horrible. At least we learned an important lesson about databases, everybody is now getting a fresh start in all of the forums, and all of the junk will be out of the way for a while.

<_< Now I have to repost Bug III here (and get me in the mood to actually WRITE A CHAPTER) with its revised version.

Good luck with the repairs, Butterfree. ^_^

Oh, the site will be fine pretty much no matter what - everything is both on my computer and on the server, after all, so there will always be a backup even if something goes very horribly wrong. Only the databases were in just one place.

Just goes to show you you can't predict stuff like this happening, huh?
Well, I'm not complaining.
It's not like I actually had a GOOD fan fic here. XD

Hmm, at least I saved Team Strange, Pokemon Antebellum, and Pokemon Mansion on my computer! Plus I'm going to be rewriting Pokemon Antebellum soon…But still! All the Ask the Characters questions, fan art, speculative theories!!! WHY??? WHY MUST THIS HAPPEN!!!???

AAARGH.

If you look at my guestbook post, you'll see why I'm so aggravated, because I don't rightly feel like typing it again. What the hell man, why does this keep happening…?
Tropiking (06/20/2008 03:32:11)
Well, the old forums will live on in our hearts. 0_0 Wow that was corny.

I will miss all of the good threads though.

Oh well, that's life.

…sniffle.

All your fine work, gone just like that. Oh mercy….
elyvorg (06/20/2008 16:15:57)
Ouch. I pity anyone who had a fanfic posted here, really.

At least the contents of the blog weren't lost. :/

Let's hope she gets the forum back up soon.
