03/15/2010: Almost Done

Looks like it's going to be a bit shorter than I thought last time; I was extrapolating from the length of the battle when it was halfway done Pokémonwise, but the latter half turned out a bit shorter than the first, so now I'm really almost done with the chapter. Hopefully I can get it up later today or this evening.

(Incidentally, the Quest for the Legends Word document is now 600 pages long.)

EDIT: Chapter finished. I think. I'm sort of iffy on whether or not to include one more scene after what I'm currently calling the end of the chapter. We'll see after I take a nap and proofread.

1st! Anyways, I've been reading the fic since last year, but I never bother to comment. I have this sudden urge to comment (mostly because I might be first, and I've seen that there's a fuss about first comments)I'm excited for this chapter though.

What's you format for word? 12 pt font, single spaced, Times New Roman?
(If you were to get this published, which I know you can't, you would have to pull a Paolini and split it into a couple of books. 0_0)

12pt Times New Roman, yes, but double-spaced. More relevantly, the fic itself (i.e. not counting the chapter plan, a couple of IALCOTN chapters I put at the beginning before I put that into a separate document, and a couple of rough drafts of future scenes that are also in the Word document) is a bit more than 260,000 words right now, which, yes, is longer than your average novel, though not unheard of. Assuming approximately the same density in the remaining chapters, it will end up at something nearing 400,000 words. Again, pretty darn long, but not unheard of.

I am pretty sure 400k would be approaching unbindable size.

According to Wikipedia, Gone with the Wind, for example, is more than 420,000 words, so clearly it's not impossible.
