Mark was all dizzy as his opponent was terrified of Scyther.

"Both" Scyther raored and leapt up without warning…
?

I know you're a perfectionist, so I won't keep these things to myself.

Reply: There are two Scyther because he used Double Team earlier. One of them is the real Scyther, the other is an illusory copy that mirrors everything the real Scyther does.

I can somewhat relate with Mark. Many people tell me that art isn't going to help with my future, to which I would get frustrated at. I do remember getting scolded like that back in my elementary days, when my notebooks would be half-filled with doodles. Hehe. :) I'm excited to see how the Pokemon communicate with the humans.

What's the "flash of blood spreading over rocky ground" supposed to be? Was May suddenly stabbed?

I uh… just noticed. Near the end of the chapter, Mark says "You can stay with me in Sailance if you want, but I can also take you back where I caught you, or wherever you like.” Is the Effect no longer a thing? How can his pokémon choose to stay with him in Sailance if they will eventually become unconscious permanently by doing so? He wouldn't be able to live in Sailance and still have his pokémon at all, right?

Reply: The Effect is a thing in the IALCOTN - not in the ILCOE. As I keep emphasizing, the two versions are not consistent with one another. In the ILCOE, wild Pokémon generally stay away from that part of Ouen, instinctively just not liking the place, but the precise reasons are a mystery and they suffer no adverse effects if they do come there.

Come to think of it, I should really note this on the Ouen Map page - it was made more to go with the IALCOTN initially (like most of this minipage), but it's bound to be pretty confusing when I've mostly been writing the ILCOE for the past several years.

Reply: When I've finished editing them, yes.

umm, not that i have a problem with it but, WHY THE HELL CAN THE POKEMON TALK???!!!!!1

Reply: Have you forgotten the whole thing about Mark being good at Pokémon speech at school? It's not that the Pokémon are speaking human (except Gyarados and Spirit, but that's because they were given special powers by Entei and Suicune), but that people understand their language. In an early episode of the anime, there was a guy who was researching the language of Pokémon; this fic happens twenty-seven years later and assumes that they did figure out Pokémon speech and are now teaching it at schools.

can you make polaryu, thunderyu, volcaryu and chaletwo sprites?(that is if chaletwo has a spritable body)

Reply: There are already Thunderyu, Volcaryu and Polaryu sprites under Fic Art on the menu (the images decorating the styles on the minipage are basically blown-up versions of them), and Chaletwo looks exactly like Mewtwo, so I don't really see what the point of making a special sprite of him would be.

I wonder, is Mark's artistically-inclined-ness going to be removed or toned down in any way in future rewrites because of its general irrelevance(at least from my point-of-view)?

Reply: I don't see any reason to. It doesn't exactly take up massive amounts of space or get in the way of the story, and characters having a sense that there's something they do and care about other than what's directly relevant to the plot of the story makes them feel a bit more whole, to me.

At first I was skeptical about reading this series, but this is probably one of the best things I have ever read, the best fanfic I have ever read, and T-1st for the best Pokémon story I have ever read. (Pokémon Adventures) Thank you for providing this great story, and I look forward to reading the rest of it! (the reason I left the comment on this chapter and not the others was that my favorite Pokémon, Dialga, was on the spam verification)

I love the way the three of them adress Raudra and Puragon differently; Mark as "The red one and the white one", which is an obvious, first-glance type of discription; May, as "the fire-type and the ice-type", which is the strategic, slightly ogjectifying way; and Alan as "the one on the left and the one on the right", which has nothing to do with the dragons themself and only about where they are, and is the least objectifying form. All in-character and well done.

Reply: You have no idea how much it delights me that someone notices these silly little things.
